REIKI
“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy, and is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing, This tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication.
Everything is made up of energy, or life force, that nourishes and maintains all living things. When all the energy systems in the body and the external energy field (or aura) are balanced, one feels a sense of wellbeing. Energy misalignment or blockages in the energy field can manifest in a number of different ways and Reiki healing helps the body heal itself on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.
Reiki has many benefits including:
promoting deep relaxation,
fostering a sense of wellbeing on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level,
helping to manage symptoms of physical and emotional pain,
promotes sleep,
helps the body to heal itself,
its holistic – it works on the whole, and
relaxes and releases tension and stress in the body.
Reiki treatments are safe and have no harmful side effects, it can be used on humans, including during pregnancy and is often used alongside traditional medicine, including treatments for life threatening illnesses. It is not aligned with any religion or belief system and is never a substitute for medical diagnosis.
The treatment is preformed either sitting in a chair or lying down, clothed. The Reiki practitioner’s hands are gently placed on or near the body to allow the healing Reiki energy to flow.

MEDITATION
Meditation can be used to sharpen focus and attention, connect to the body and the breath, help to process and understand difficult emotions and alter consciousness. It’s increasingly being turned to as a tool to help with stress and anxiety and also has the following other benefits:

enhances mood

provides a sense of calm and relaxation; and
helps manage chronic pain

CRYSTAL HEALING
Crystal healing is an ancient therapy that uses the healing power of crystals to improve health and wellbeing. Crystals have the ability to balance on all levels; emotional, physical and spiritual and when they are placed on or around the body, they have the ability to activate and support the self-healing process.
Each chakra or energy centre is associated with physical parts of the body as well as the emotions. Imbalances in one or all of the chakras can make you feel out of sorts and can even manifest as physical or emotional pain.
Certain crystals can help to restore and rebalance the chakras, helping to bring back a feeling of wellbeing. During a treatment, crystals will be chosen that are best suited to helping restore each chakra, bringing back balance to the whole.
Benefits of crystal healing include helping reduce the effects of range of physical ailments. It can also provide a number of mental benefits including providing a sense of calmness, peace and tranquillity, reducing anxiety and stress, helping to lift feelings of depression, ease mental fatigue and clear the perspective. It can also benefit on an energetic level in balancing the chakras, clearing stagnant energy and helping you to connect to your place of inner peace and knowing.

PHYSIOTHERAPY & HIPPOTHERAPY
Physiotherapy consultations are available as required; you may be referred for assessment from other therapists.
Hippotherapy is a form of physical, occupational and speech therapy in which a therapist uses the characteristic movements of a horse to provide carefully graded motor and sensory input. A foundation is established to improve neurological function and sensory processing, which can be generalized to a wide range of daily activities. Unlike therapeutic horseback riding (where specific riding skills are taught), the movement of the horse is a means to a treatment goal when utilizing hippotherapy as a treatment strategy. Hippotherapy has been used to treat patients with neurological or other conditions, such as autism, cerebral palsy, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, head injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, behavioral disorders and psychiatric disorders. Here in clinic Ami uses Rocky the Racewood Simulator rather than a live horse.

COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY
The person centred approach can be described as more of a philosophy than a technique. A way of being.
The approach believes by providing the right therapeutic conditions a person can activate their own innate healing capacity. The non-directive style understands it is the person themselves that knows best.
The therapeutic conditions can empower a person towards personal growth enabling them to be more open to themselves and external situations. Old beliefs and concepts become less rigid.
The process enables people to trust their own feelings and ideas more rather than relying on outside influences. They become more autonomous and seem to let go of fixed goals realising life is a process. Defensive masks fall away which can feel fascinating and exciting.
It allows people to become more genuine leading to less psychological tension.
